3 legal questions regarding ROMs

Main Post:

I recently stumbled upon the GBA Link Cable Dumper, which can rip the ROM files off of GBA carts. I have a few questions regarding this.

  1. Does this software circumvent DMCA protection when it comes to ripping a ROM (which I've been told is illegal)? Or do GBA games not have DMCA protection?
  2. I realize this question has been done to death, but it is legal to own a digital copy of a game that I own (for "backup purposes") if I make the copy myself, correct? Even Nintendo seems to state that this is legal, but I've still heard conflicting reports.
  3. If the answer to the above questions are that neither is illegal, then it would be legal to use the above tool to rip a ROM and then play it on an emulator, correct?

Thank you!

EDIT: These questions refer to within the United States.

Is this the same Nintendo that sold roms they themselves downloaded off the internet as part of their NES Classic Edition? Because they wouldn't have a product to sell if people didn't make those digital copies.

Anyway, to answer your questions, no one has been sent to jail for owning copies of their own games. One guy did get airstriked though.

Is it legal get kicked out with 3 days notice when you are a subtenant ?

Main Post:

Hi, I just had a phone call from the person Whom I subblet my appartement from telling me I had 3 days to leave the house She was not aloud to sublet and the hausverheutung wasn’t aware of it. They want to kick her out using me as a reason as it’s an old contract and the rent is fair I’ve been leaving there for 1,5 year, always paid my rent early and had a signed agreement with the main tenant
What are my options ? If not to just piss off

Guess what ? Never been in such a shitty situation Any help greatly appreciated Best, Kosto

Top Comment: For all that his good and holy, don't fucking take legal advice from people on reddit. Especially this subreddit. I'm not a lawyer but there are common sense things to do and not do to: All communications are in writing. No phone calls. If she calls, tell her she must communicate in writing only and then hang up. Do not change the locks. Until this is resolved, make sure someone is at home at all times. If someone shows up and tries to throw you out, call the police. Remember, this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. Don't make someone else's problem into your problem. This is true for a lot of things in life. Seek the advice of an attorney. Whatever the law may be on this matter, I am quite certain that someone who has signed a contract with you and accepted rent payments from you for 18 months can't call you and tell you to be out in 3 days. An attorney can tell you what is legal.

Explanation of why "3 steps" is actually legal.

Main Post:

I've recently seen a lot of arguments about whether certain plays are travels or not, so hopefully this will help clear up some of the controversy.

Clearly legal plays:
Andre Iguodala's layup and a supplemental screenshot.
D-Wade's layup
Kyrie's layup

Borderline travels/really tough to call:
Harden
Ginobili

EVIDENCE OF WHY "3 STEPS" ARE LEGAL:
Quote from NBA Rulebook. You're allowed 2 steps upon completion of a dribble, so if you dribble while pushing off of one foot it is not counted toward one of your 2 allowed steps.

Conclusion:
This occurrence is more commonly referred to as taking "two-and-a-half steps", where the half step is the "gather step". This half step is what makes the majority of euro-steps look so effortless and sexy.
As for whether this is considered legal in NCAA/International basketball, I have no idea. But it is NOT considered a travel in the NBA.

Top Comment:

to put it in simple terms, gathering the ball is still considered dribbling. the "gather dribble" does not count towards the two steps allowed.

Good, it's very similar in nature and has already proven to trick people (see Twitter). Not surprising though given how shit and unoriginal 104.3 the fan is.

Are FIMI drones legal in the European Union?

Are Fimi drones legal in the European Union?

My understanding is that only certified, home built and legacy drones manufactured before 1.1.2024. can be legally flown in the European Union.

Amazon listing for the FIMI mini 3 claims that it complies with the "European class C0" but I don't see any FIMI drones on the EASA's official list of certified drones.

Lightweight and complies with European class C0: the lightweight and portable FIMI Mini 3 entry-level drone weighs only 245 g and complies with European class C0. The compact and foldable design makes it easy to take anywhere.
